I opened up to someone and thus royally duped myself. I gave my self to someone, and thus lost myself. I found myself, and thus lost many I held dear. People cannot be trusted. Even the best intentions can end up the worst scenarios.  You can't trust anyone. I put my all into it. And it wasn't enough. Now I am all dried up, and they still cry "more!" I saved you. I saw you  there, A heap of cold bones Piled on the floor, Rolling towards a darkness, Sinking into that abyss. I’ve been there, that abyss. Its nice. Quiet. Empty. Lonely. Sometimes I wish I could just remove tiny bits of myself, The anomalies. The pieces that don’t do what I expect them to. The parts that suddenly decide that I care. I care about them, and that makes them mine. Why am I like that? If one could live in my head for a day, They’d see just how dark, How flawed. Empathy That’s the trouble With being empathetic. You care. Even when you don’t want to Or shouldn’t, You just care. Not because it is about them, But because suddenly it is about you. You care because Your heart hurts with theirs Your eyes weep for their tears You can feel your world Crack and shatter alongside them. Caring becomes self defense, Reflex. Instinct. You comfort them, So they will stop hurting you. Empathy means you feel their feelings, Emote their emotions. My mind is a rotten prison, it seems the air is stale, and heaven this surely isnt but neither is it hell. It isnt much too cold, but you couldnt call it warm.
